Hello All,
I hope someone can help. This problem has quite frankly kicked my @$$ and I can only hope someone here can help.
Last week my PC crashed and ever since then I have been unable to connect to the internet.
I am running XP and have done the following:
1) Ran ipconfig which gives me no connection, IP Address, subnet mask or gateway.
2) Ran ipconfig /all which gives me an APIPA address as follows:
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Brg
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
3) I then tried to release/renew to which I got:
Windows IP Configuration
An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.
So I started to look into things that can cause this:
3) Checked all physical connections to the switch, which where fine.
4) Power-cycled
5) Reinstalled the drivers for wired and wireless
6) Installed different drivers for wired and wireless
7) Ran the netsh int ip reset and netsh winsock reset catalog commands
8) Tried winsock reset catalog, which was not found.
What else can I do?
