How to set BIOS HD mode to AHCI?

$

0

Hi,

While there is no installation of Windows on my local hard drive, I have tried to install :

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition Version 5.1. 2600 Service Pack 1
    Build 2600
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition Version 5.1. 2600 Service Pack 2
    Build 2600
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition Version 5.1. 2600 Service Pack 3
    Build 2600

However, in each time, I was faced this error below:

Blue Screen error( Stop Code: 0x0000050(0xB25500c2,0x00000000,0x00000000)

That Blue Screen error showed me while Windows Setup was copying the files to
prepare installing Windows XP with any SP.

I didn't install any new hardware. Also, there are no settings, such as
BIOS HD mode in the BOIS to be set to AHCI.

I was told: 'The usual suspect here is BIOS HD mode is set to AHCI and not Compatibility, but as you said no such options exist and I suspect they would not in the BIOS considering its age. This is often reflected as a 0x7B issue when Windows uses Int-13H on boot via installation method.'

Although I have tried to install Windows XP on three computers of mine below, I ended up with the same blue screen error. All of my compyters do not have a BIOS HD mode be set to AHCI.

  • HP Laptop with core i5, 2GHz, 6GB of RAM, 1GB of Graphics Card Memory.
  • Desktop Computer with Intel P 4 3GHz, and 512MB, Craphics Card with 256MB of RAM.
  • Desktop Computer with Intel P 3 1GHz, and 256MB of RAM. Graphics Card with 128MB of RAM .

Multimedia Audio contrlloler is not installed properly due to an exclamation mark in front of it.

Hi,
I have a Windows XP SP3(32Bit) installed on a Desktop Computer with a PIII processor, and 512MB of RAM.

My Desktop Computer with P 4 doesn't have any access internet since there is no network adapter installed. As a result, I would not be able to run the Intel  Audio Card Reader a web-based applet that identifies my Audio Card and finds the latest audio driver for my Audio adapter.

I have Multimedia Audio contrlloler driver installed improperly since an exclamation mark is shown in front  of it in the device manager.

This is Hardware ID (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_97611849&REV_02).

I have tried to download the driver from here:

However, I don't know which one of them I should download since there are quite a lot of them, and there aren't classified as to 32-Bit, and 64-Bit versions of Windows Systems.

Thus, could you please help me to decied which one I could choose.

I was working on my girlfriends computer. She had downloaded a lot of viruses. I was attempting to boot her computer with the applications disabled. I had hit Disable all when I started to go through the applications to see if they were trust worthy. Then it happened... I stepped away from the computer and my girlfriend hit restart with all the applications disabled. After rebooting the computer and log in the screen is black with only a cursor. I tried pressing Ctrl + alt + delete. But, an error pops up saying that it was unable to display. I also tried hitting the windows key, right clicking but it was no good.  I am able to boot the computer in safe mode. How can I change the start up application for normal start up from safe mode. Or, is there another way I should go about this.

Question about Windows Services

I've been trying to cut corners on an XP machine. Since it doesn't need network connectivity, I've disabled networking related services. However, I was wondering if System-level (Start type 0x1) services are safe to disable as well (located under SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services). Specifically, IPSEC, NETBIOS, Tcpip, and TermDD (these are the exact key names).

I have disabled these services, and didn't have any issues booting. But I haven't done anything beyond that (such as long-term affects/unintended side effects).

copy and paste not working

$

2 days ago I noticed that my copy and paste functions stopped working! I am using win xp home sp3 and I do NOT use any remote file sharing or remote apps. No new programs have been installed or removed in over a month.

I have tried using the keyboard shortcuts crtl+c and crtl+v, right click copy and paste which doesn't work and neither does the copy or paste function under the edit menu. when I highlight text I can use copy ( enabled with black text) in the edit menu, right click and hit copy or do a crtl+c but when I go to paste the text into any text document regardless if using keyboard shortcut crtl+v, right click or the edit menu, the paste function is not enabled ( grayed out)

These functions are not working in any document program on my PC nor do they work with paint shop pro or photo shop when I try to copy an image into my work image.

if there any way to fix this? I need my copy and paste functions to work again!!!

I have tried just about everything to get this to work .. restoring to the day before the issue started didn't help. My fiance is a PC tech and even he couldn't get it to work even after checking to make sure the clipboard was not full ( it was empty), reformatting is not an option as I need my PC for my job and copy and paste is a big part of my job as a graphic designer.

Default VGA driver can let me increase resolution between '800x600' to '1024X 768'?

Hi,

I was told that the initial VGA is an standard, 800x600 or similar, only gives me the option to show image but not some other possibilities like external display, clone display and those stuffs. The specific VGA (FX 5200) driver, give to your rig the "possibility" to address all the image process to an specific device, in this case, the FX 5200 and add some extra functions like external display (at different resolutions), clone display, extend display...and those stuffs.

However, I noticed that while using the default VGA driver, then I could increase 'resolution from '800X600' to 1024x768 Pixels. Also, the 'colour quality' to 32Bit or 16Bit, although it is intial, standard VGA, I could change the resolution.

Thus, my questions are:

First:  what benefit is there from instlling the driver of the default VGA as long as I can change the screen resolution into '1024X 768' while using default VGA driver, which means that icons, and display would be OK??

Second:  With using a default VGA driver on any Computer, there are only  '800x600' to '1024X 768'? (I.e. The resolution of all default monitor can be only between   800x600 and '1024X 768'?

Multimedia Audio Controller, and Video Controller(VGA compatible) are missing on Windows XP(32Bit) SP3

Hi.

I have two Windows XP installations:

  • Windows XP SP2(32Bit) which is old and it seems it infected by some viruses.
  • I have installed another fresh clean Windows XP(32Bit) SP3. However, I have two devices not detected well by Windows XP.

According to the screen shots above, then

The vendor ID of Multimedia Audio Controller  is 8086 and the device ID is24D5.

The vendor ID of Video Controller  is 8086 and the device ID is2572.

I AM EXPECTING THAT KNOWING THE VENDOR ID AND THE DEVICE ID WILL LET ME QUICKLY FIND THE APPROPRIATE  DRIVER. HOWEVER, I COULDN'T FIND THE APPROPRIATE DRIVER.

Thus, could you please help me to find them?

I have tried installing a soundMAX card  driver, however, I found this error.

I have checked the other Windows XP SP2(32Bit) which is oder installed, and it seems it infected by some viruses.

However, the Multimedia Audio on that Windows is installed well. As here: I only posted these screen shots to show what kind of device is Multimedia Audio Card

How to install the driver of the 'SCSI and RAID Host Controller'

Hi,
I have two Windows XP(32Bit) installations:
•Windows XP SP2(32Bit) which is old and it seems as if it is infected by some viruses.
•I have installed another fresh clean Windows XP(32Bit) SP3. However, I have found that there is no category named with ''SCSI and RAID Host Controller'. However, when checking out the old version of Windows XP, I found  'SCSI and RAID Host Controller' is there. (Screen shot below)

The new Windows XP(32Bit) SP3, there is no 'SCSI and RAID Host Controller'

My motherboard is:

My Desktop Computer(Intel P 4, 512MB of RAM, and Graphics Card  with 256MB of RAM.

]I am seeing that most computer doesn't has the scsi / raid controller . in the old Windows XP on my computer that SCSI and RAID controller exists, and it it has not  a yellow mark on it.
When I installed  a new windwos XP 32Bit SP3, no SCSI/RAID in divice manager .
My computer sound on new Windows XP doesn't work , however, on old Windows XP SP2 works well. I have a buitl-in  sound card. SCSI and RAID controller category in the device manager on the old Windows xp SP2 is realted to sound card,I don't think.

Thus, What drivers would let the 'SCSI and RAID Host Controller' added in the device manager?

Auto switch from LAN to WIFI

I am looking for some software or a way to auto switch from LAN to WiFI if there no internet connection.

This history of this is we have a XP machine that runs a process and its just left on for this and nothing else, with no keyb or mouse connected and we just remote to it if needed.  Our internet connection has issues and quite often drops out, but local LAN obviously stays up, we have a WiFi connection to another site opposite that is ok, question is does anyone know any software that will for example ping a external host every so often and if there is no response will auto switch from LAN to WiFi connection automatic.

Thanks.

Hi all,

I received this message when i tried to look at the local group policy setting on one of my machines (Windows XP SP3), which is joined in my domain.

"Failed to open group policy object on this computer. You may not have appropriate rights.

Details:

Unspecified error."

note that I am local admin.

It's all started when I was troublshooting WSUS connectivity and i looked at the WinsdowsUpdate.log, the WSUS server was <Null> & WSUS status server <Null>, I tried to force the domain GP by using GPupdate /force, it went fine and asked to log off, but nothing changed in the WindowsUpdate.log still <Null>. Then i tried to look at the local policy setting.

I searched the internet nothing related to my case.

Thanks in advance for advising.
